Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) is an engineering and technology university in Brunei that specializes in Engineering, Business and Computing. The Centre for Innovative Engineering (CIE) is one of the research units of UTB. The Centre advocates quality research and innovative engineering applications. The CIE hosts MIWAI 2017 in Brunei. with the following objectives:

• To provide a venue for researchers to present new findings, to share, discuss and learn from each other;
• To provide a platform for local researchers to engage and interact with international researchers and experts;
• To understand issues and challenges related to Artificial Intelligence; and
• To provide a venue for local researchers to establish networks. Hence, creating opportunities for collaborations.

All foreign nationals entering Brunei Darussalam must have visas obtainable from any Brunei Darussalam diplomatic missions abroad except countries with whom Brunei Darussalam has visa arrangements.

Getting to Brunei by Plane

Brunei's sole airport is the Brunei International Airport (BWN), the hub of the national carrier Royal Brunei Airlines. Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) offers a reasonably comprehensive network, with flights to Bangkok, Dubai, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Shanghai and Singapore.

In addition, Singapore Airlines flies 5 times a week from Singapore, and Malaysia Airlines flies from Kuala Lumpur, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. AirAsia is the cheapest carrier to serve Brunei from an international hub, with fares as low as US$40 one-way from Kuala Lumpur. AirAsia flies from 35 destinations in Asia to Kuala Lumpur, where connections to Brunei are available. Cebu Pacific flies red-eye flights to Manila.

There are many hotels in Brunei to choose from. There are those which are budget friendly and there are those that cost hundreds of Brunei dollars a night. The organiser provides a free bus service between some selected hotels (please check with the organiser) and the conference venue (20,21,22 November 2017).
